Lifecore Health Group, based in the community of rural south central Mississippi, offers a variety of services that incorporate all facets of drug addiction treatment, including, but not limited to, residential drug rehab, outpatient substance abuse treatment, and inpatient rehabilitation programs. Lifecore does not use “punishment” or incarceration as a means of dealing with substance abuse or addiction. People addicted to alcohol, drugs, gambling or any other form of substance abuse are referred to by their primary care physicians, without profiling them. This enables the doctor to treat the individual according to his or her specific needs.

Many communities throughout the United States have been able to successfully address substance abuse through comprehensive prevention and treatment strategies. The goal of a comprehensive prevention approach is to address the root causes of addiction and encourage individuals to make positive choices, while receiving the assistance they need to overcome the addiction. The goal of substance abuse treatment centers is to help people rid themselves of their addiction, through therapy, medications, and rehabilitation services. Both of these efforts are integral to the process of rehabilitation and must be complemented by a healthy, balanced diet and exercise plan for the patient.

With an abundance of resources, Lifecore Health Group provides its patients with a range of services, ranging from basic health care to full-service substance abuse treatment, and from education about addiction and recovery to employment assistance. Through its 12 programs, including a triage line and helpline, the organization strives to provide access to quality addiction treatment at a local level. Many of the services provided by Lifecore are covered by Medicare. Medicaid and Social Security Disability Insurance also covers a portion of the costs of substance abuse treatment in the region. The organization’s outpatient program also covers medically related expenses for clients with moderate or severe physical limitations. In addition, Lifecore offers financial support to families of substance abuse addicts.
