LOVETAP!
Artwork

“LOVETAP!” is the debut album from Smallpools and it’s brilliant. So far in 2014, it’s my album of the year and something that I can see myself listening to for the next nine months regularly. If you give it a listen, my best guess is that you’ll think the same thing.

Produced by Captain Cuts – Ben Berger, Ryan Rabin, and Ryan McMahon – the production on “LOVETAP!” is spot-on. Every song on the record is brilliantly polished and sounds amazing. From song to song there’s moment after moment of brilliant instrumental and production nuances that make the record awesome to listen to.

The songwriting is fairly unpredictable too. There are some amazing hooks that are original and well though-out and out of the 14 songs on the Spotify version of the album, there are 10-12 songs that you’ll want to listen to Over & Over (pun intended.)

Sean Scanlon and Smallpools have made one of my favorite records ever and easily my favorite of 2014. If you give this a listen you’ll form similar opinion. Key songs: “Street Fight”, “Over & Over”, “Dreaming”, “Killer Whales”, “Karaoke”, “Lovetap!”, and “Dyin’ to Live”.
