Sugar Ray

Music For Cougars
Artwork

Sugar Ray’s new album “Music for Cougars” might actually be the band’s best work. It’s a damn shame they didn’t release this in 2003 instead of their last record because this record is pretty good. I’m not saying that I don’t feel a little bit guilty listening to the thing as frequently as I have because it’s pretty poppy but it’s still a good record… possibly the best the band has put out. It’s a fun record to listen through because it basically takes you back to 1998 when these guys were at their peak. This album reminds you of better times and better days. With some songwriting help from Gym Class Heroes, Donovan Frankenreiter, and Rivers Cuomo the quality of the songs on this album are better than they’ve ever been. All of this still doesn’t make me feel any less guilty for liking a Sugar Ray record this much, but I can’t help it. The songs were too much to ignore. It’s not an amazing album, don’t be confused with that, but it’s a solid pop record and if you ever liked Sugar Ray, you’ll love this record.
