Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel

Starring: Phineas and Ferb
Disney
Rating
Phineas and Ferb Mission Marvel is a fun two-part adventure of the show and it’s a new twist on a show that sometimes needs it. The animation of the show is outstanding, but the writing that was implemented for this crossover is what really makes it work.

When Disney acquired Marvel one of fanboys’ biggest concerns was the crossover. Would Disney have Mickey Mouse be featured as Iron Man in a full length movie adventure? Maybe it wasn’t that extreme, or maybe it was... with hardcore comic book fans there’s really no in between. Anyway, Marvel fans were worried about crossovers, but then Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel was announced and then all of a sudden everybody was excited. You figure it out... I can’t.

Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel shows us what happens when crazy Dr. Doofenshmirtz makes a power drainer inator and accidentally drains all of the power of the world’s most famous super heroes miles away. In a battle with the Red Skull, Modock, Whiplash, and Venom, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and Spider-Man have their powers drained only to find out via Nick Fury that Phineas and Ferb were partly responsible because the ray from Doof’s inator bounced off the boys’ space station and then drained the heroes’ of their power. So the super heroes travel to Danville to find Phineas and Ferb, one thing leads to another and the kids and heroes team up to face Doofenshmirtz and the baddies. It’s a fun adventure that’s not to be missed for fans of the show.

The coolest thing about this crossover is that Disney took the already outstanding animation and style used on Phineas and Ferb and they put a different spin on it with the super heroes coming into play. Everything is slightly more dramatic and just a little bit darker than it usually is. The animation is different but the witty and fun writing with Phineas and Ferb is on par with the standard the show has set for themselves over the past 5+ years.

The DVD release of this is decent. The bad news is that there aren’t any features on why or how this crossover happened. The good news is that this isn’t the only episode of the show on the DVD. There are six other episodes that are great, just like Phineas and Ferb always are.
