Everything that Jared Leto does gets attention. It’s who he is. He’s a decent actor and a prolific musician. With Thirty Seconds To Mars, Leto and company have made three amazing albums. Now, make that four. LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS is another great album from the group and it will easily be in everyone’s top ten albums at the end of the year.
LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS is just as ambitious as This Is War, but it’s ambitious in a different way. It follows four of the key parts of life and takes you on an epic twelve song journey that covers all four both directly and indirectly. It’s a little early to understand everything that’s on the record and everything that Leto and the band are talking about, but you can understand bits and pieces. As a brief example, “City of Angels” talks about Leto’s relationship to Los Angeles. That’s just something on the surface, dig deeper and you’ll find out a lot more.
The lyrical content is one thing, but the sounds on LLF+D are what’s really impressive. The sounds are as deep and plush as they’ve been the past two albums but they’re different. There isn’t as much guitar, there’s more programming, and there’s a greater focus on Leto’s intense vocals. Along with the traditional elements there’s also some very cool accents in the music; the lid on a piano closing and a myriad of other sounds accompany some great music to make the album a complete experience.
LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS is an amazing record. It’s one of the year’s best and it’s some of Thirty Seconds To Mars’ best too. Leto screams on this album passionately and the entire record feels like an amazing journey. Go and get this one now, it’s worth a purchase.
