The Rouge

Blurry EP
Artwork

The Rouge’s new EP- the Blurry EP has six folk-rock songs that sound a lot like Jack White’s solo work but with more of the focus on folk and less of the focus on rock. An outstanding rhythm section, some cool guitar riffs, and lead singer’s Joshua Vaught’s vocal all contribute to the allure of The Rouge’s new EP.

The EP has six songs that are a great introduction to the band. Despite it’s rough start, “Cocaine Hero” is a nice song that sets the atmosphere of the production for the rest of the EP. “Hand Cuffs” is an awesome song because of it’s humorous lyrics and because the beat and the melody of the track counter-react to each other perfectly.”Sinners” is a great break from the raucousness of the rest of the EP. It’s an emotional song that’s driven home by Vaught. “We The Free” is like the group’s interpretation of a Skynyrd song. And “Pressure” finishes the EP on a high note.

The Blurry EP features a solid six songs from The Rouge. They’re a good band and they should have an opportunity in the coming year to make an impact on a larger scale. I don’t necessarily hear a song on this album that’s going to get everybody’s attention, but there is definitely some good music to be found on this release.
