Walk The Moon

Tightrope EP
Artwork

Consider me a Walk the Moon fan. The debut album is fantastic, featuring “Anna Sun,” “Quesadilla,” “I Can Lift a Car,” and the band’s latest single, “Tightrope.” The album has been a mainstay in my player for the past year and it was one of the best releases of 2012. Just recently the band put out a six song EP, called The Tightrope EP, it’s different from the album-- it’s not as polished-- but it’s worth the same amount of attention.

The only slight with this new EP is that it features a song that WtM fans have already grown to love- “Tightrope.” Most of us already have the song, it’s somewhat understandable that this EP is being used to promote the single just as much as the band, that doesn’t mean that it’s not a slight for the fans that have already come to the fold. That being said, that’s the only negative thing I can say about this EP- it’s a light-hearted but fun EP that features a little bit of everything.

This EP has some strong bonuses for Walk the Moon fans- there’s an acoustic version of “Tightrope” and there’s an awesome live cover of “Burning Down the House.” In addition to that there are three unreleased songs including the awesome “Tete-a-Tete.”

The Tightrope EP is a means to promote a single, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some valuable pieces for people who are familiar with the band already. Unreleased songs, a cover, and an acoustic song make this EP worth looking into.
