Angels and Airwaves

Love, Pt. 2
Artwork

The cool thing about Angels and Airwaves is that the sonic landscape created with the music is supposed to tell a story or help tell a story. Therefore the ebb & flow created with the music is that much more poignant and defining on a complete album listen than 98% of the other albums released. “Love Part II”, of course the second part in the Love series, and basically AVA’s fourth album has the best ebb and flow of any of the band’s albums to date. That’s mainly due to the incorporation of some new things… some use of strings, some new effects, some standard effects, and of course a few new tricks on the writing and creative side. Strictly judging this album compared to the previous albums from the band, this is the best one yet due to all of those new elements and because the song set here is extremely strong. Of course, with blink-182 back working again and just releasing a new album some crossover between what Delonge does in both projects is going to cross over on both accounts and some blink-182 elements rear their heads on this album, mainly on the guitar effects used by Delonge. But that bit of crossover really adds something to the AVA experience; it doesn’t slow it down whatsoever. That’s not to say that this AVA experience is perfect, because there are moments of redundancy. The main offenders are the Edge guitar effects and going overboard with the film score clichés (The opening strings on this album sound remarkably similar to the opening strings on Spider-Man 2.) Regardless, you can’t discredit this Angels and Airwaves album being just as good as the previous three.
