Red Hot Chili Peppers

I'm With You
Artwork

All through their career, (but especially in the second half of it), the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been extremely consistent. Every album is good to great and there’s always at least one song that could be added to what seems like an endless supply of greatest hits. With the new album “I’m With You” it’s apparent that the consistency will continue. This album’s most glaring trait is that it continues the trend of radio friendly melodic songs that the band emphasized on “Stadium Arcadium.” The difference between that album and this one is that on “I’m With You” the band’s old funk style rears its head a bit more here than on “Stadium.” Rick Rubin produces this album and after listening to the effort that he did here it’s very clear why he’s considered to be the best in the business. The band bounces around several different musical styles on this album and Rubin helps them do it perfectly. As an example, on the world music infused “Did I Let You Know” the incorporation of horns and other instruments are produced and mixed with Chili Peppers’ flare perfectly. Every time you listen to this album you hear something new and more elaborate. That has to do with the greatness of the band and the production of Rubin. This RHCP album is another excellent release from the band and even though it’s half as long as their previous album it could have just as many hit singles.
