Weezer

Hurley
Artwork

Weezer’s album “Hurley” won’t register with fans as a classic Weezer album. There’s too much controversy surrounding the name and the album cover and if the band sold out or not. The issues surrounding it don’t affect the album itself, but even so the material on the album doesn’t really strike one as classic Weezer. Here’s the positive, if you like what Weezer is doing late in their career- what they’ve done over the past four years- then you’re not going to hate “Hurley.” Chances are everyone can find at least a song or two to listen and love, but the album is definitely a ‘preview before you buy’ album. Basically this is “Raditude” with a slightly independent influence, and “Raditude” is better. While we see “Pinkerton” get rereleased and songs like “Memories” and “Time Flies”, you have to wonder how much is left in the tank with Weezer. Either way it’s been a good run, (knocking out a couple classic albums, having a remarkable comeback, and then a string of hits over the past decade… not shabby.) They'll always be relevant and around in some form but the time where the new Weezer album is a must-own has passed.
