One Night Only

One Night Only
Artwork

The follow up to 2008’s disappointing ‘Start a Fire’ is the real McCoy. Produced by Ed Butler (Suede, Pulp) ‘One Night Only’ is an infectious and highly original amalgam of stadium rock guitars, soaring choruses and eighties synthesizers. Hailing from Helmsley North Yorkshire this self-titled album represents one of the undoubted highlights of 2010. ‘Say You Don’t Want It’ goes for the jugular, an anti -formulaic guitar and synth romp with Pet Shop Boys overtones, ‘Bring Me Back Down’ brings to mind Sweden’s Caroline Liar and ‘Never Be The Same’ hints at Ultravox. Other notable highlights-and there are many-include the seductive commerciality of ‘All I Want’, the atmospheric stadium rock of ‘Chemistry’ and the Duran Duran-like ‘Anything’.
