The Constant

The Constant EP
Artwork

Steven Baggs turned his solo gig into a band to avoid a lot of stigma’s associated with being a solo artist in the modern music climate. Like the belief that every solo artist is just a dude playing an acoustic guitar. I definitely can see where he’s coming from because there’s really nothing acoustic about Baggs’ music and its best to avoid that altogether. Therefore switching to a band was a smart move. Luckily for Baggs, he happened to find a good band to back him up, they deemed themselves The Constant, and here we are. If you’re familiar with Baggs, you’ve heard most of these songs before, but you haven’t heard them like this. They’ve gotten considerably thicker and a few stellar solos have been added that really beef things up. The songs themselves are still the same as they were at the core but just having a few other dudes that aren’t independent producers come in and add a few artistic elements to the songs makes all the difference in the world. None of the songs are written or recorded perfectly, but they’re good and polished and ready for a label to come in with a few pointers. The best thing about what’s present with these songs is most of them are very accessible pop songs. They’re written very well. This EP is just the first release from these guys, and Baggs already had most of these songs. The full album should be even better because of a greater influence by the rest of the band. You’ve got to be excited about the direction that The Constant is heading.
