Fair To Midland

Fables of A Mayfly
Artwork

Universal/Republic has pushed it back a time or two, waiting for the opportune time to release Fair to Midland’s “Fables of a Mayfly: What I Tell You 3 Times is True”, and on June 12th the release date of Fair to Midland’s major label debut will be here. It’s easy to see why Univ/Repub waited until the opportune time to release the album. It’s awesome. There’s not a bad thing about this album or with Fair to Midland. There sound is like 10 Years, The Deftones, Tool, and all of the other really artistic rock, but it’s mixed in with sounds that are reminiscent of Hoobastank thus making them that much more accessible. The single “Dance of the Manatee” has got the potential to be a hit on modern rock/ alternative radio not only because the song itself is really good, but there’s also a unique quality to it that makes it stand out above the rest of the new stuff that comes out these days. Other than “Dance of the Manatee”, the best song on the album has got to be “A Seafarer’s Knot” it has a lead into it that will leave you baffled but rocked at the same time, and then the song rocks in a dramatic way that only a band like Fair to Midland can do. Some other songs of note that you have to listen to from this awesome band include “The Wife, The Kids, and the White Picket Fence”, “A Wolf Descends Upon the Spanish Sahara”, and “Tall Tales Taste Like Sour Grapes.” Overall this is a great major debut for Fair to Midland. It’s artistic, it’s different, but most of all it’s just damn good. When this album comes out and people get a chance to experience Fair to Midland these guys should take off.
