Hats Off to the Buskers
Artwork

These guys are fairly young (they got together in 2005 and none of them were twenty yet), and they’ve got a good sound to them. Basically this is your typical UK crossover stuff. You’ve got some catchy guitar rhyffs, basic drum lines, and lyrics that few Americans can comprehend. Because the average U.S. listener can grasp about 60% of the lyrics, a good rule when reviewing UK crossover bands is not to review content. None of us know what the hell is going on anyway. Musically this isn’t really that different from other stuff that’s in the genre. This genre of music is dying out more and more; The Strokes and The Vines are past their prime. The Arctic Monkeys have revitalized the genre to a degree, but still it’s starting to get a little stale. “Hats Off to the Buskers” is still a decent album, and it’s a good American debut for these guys. I think they more than hold their own in the genre; as long as it’s around they will be too. They’ve got some good songs on here like “Same Jeans”, “Don’t Tell Me”, “Free for the Radio”, and “Wasted Little DJs”, so if you’re really into this crossover UK rock check these guys out.
