Bullet for My Valentine

Poison
Artwork

South Wales’ Bullet for My Valentine hits the nail on the head with their album “The Poison.” This is a metal band first, and that’s what their best at; thick, huge metal that absolutely just melts your face. The metal is awesome, but what makes Bullet for My Valentine exceptional and unique are the punk influences. For too long punk and metal have been the east coast/west coast of rock music (maybe that’s pushing it, but imagine the metal head/punk fight, a lot more piercings and a lot more slapping would be involved.) It’s nice to see that a band actually incorporated the two sounds together, and here Bullet for My Valentine does it perfectly.

Matthew Tuck does an excellent job of fronting this band. He has control throughout and keeps things entertaining. Michael Pagent and Jason James do superb work on guitar and bass. On top of Michael Thomas pounding the hell out of the drums Pagent, James and Tuck perfected their work on this album. This is one of the best sounding metal albums that I’ve heard in years.

Metal has been missing from the rock scene for a while now, but if Bullet for My Valentine keeps this kind of work up they’ll bring it to the forefront yet again. The punk fusion keeps their sound fresh, and the pure metal songs are outstanding. Whether Bullet for My Valentine is melting your face or making you bang your head they do it with efficiency on The "Poison". A must buy for fans of hard music.
