This is a frighteningly good debut album from the New York outfit formerly known as Gone to Earth. After supporting the likes of Incubus, Trapt and Collective Soul BPM went on to win the Philafunk National online battle of the bands four weeks running.
Huge crushing riffs combine with the melodic vocal lines and major label style production on ‘The Crucial Line’ to produce a modern rock masterpiece. Electronic sequencing and atmospheric keyboards enhance but never appear intrusive on the crisp melodic hard rock. If you were to put Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park and the lesser known Canuck combo Harem Scarem into a room then this would be the result. The stunning ‘DTD’ with its double chorus, the thudding melody of ‘Heavenly Answer’ or the pseudo-live ‘Wake Up Call’ purely emphasise that BPM are not only the one of the best unsigned bands around they are simply one of the best bands around full stop.
