Paperstreet

Everything is Alright
Artwork

Originally formed in 2002 by ex members of Fear Factory, Cornbread and the more sedate Cool for August, Paperstreet have redefined their distinctive contemporary hard rock sound, replacing their original vocalist Luke Daly with the more adept modern sounding Chris Reece. With full on aggression-a trait more often than not absent from this genre of music-and an obvious radio friendly vein running through their core, Paperstreet come over like a hard rock version of Familiar 48. The controlled melodic urgency of the title track or the frenetic vitriol of ‘Pain’ exemplify an album alive with cathartic edge, smoothed by abrasive melody and awash with bludgeoning guitar. Tempo may ebb and flow throughout ‘Everything is Alright’, but there’s no less clout on the less chaotic ‘Fade Away’ or the Creed-like album closer ‘One of These Days’ leaving the listener in no doubt that eight songs on an album is simply not enough when the quality is this good.
