Hinder

Extreme Behavior
Artwork

So the majors aren’t signing melodic rock bands anymore? Well try telling that to the two that missed out on this Oklahoma quintet. Hewn out of the attitude of the eighties and fired by vocalist Austin Winkler’s rasping larynx, Hinder have perfected the art of modern cock-rock, bucking the trend of angst and furrowed brow and offering the perfect antidote to the grunge light wannabees that currently threaten to rule the world. Given an up to the minute Production by Closure’s Brian Howes, Hinder play hard on the Silvertide sounding ‘Room 21’ or the crashing opener ‘Get Stoned’ whilst the Closure-like ‘Bliss(I Don’t Wanna Know) and ‘Nothin Good About Goodbye’ are as good a stadium rock anthems as you are likely to hear. Together with the spellbinding ballad ‘Better Than Me’ and the hooky ‘Homecoming Queen’ with its Sweet Child O Mine-style guitar riff, this album represents a fine collection of classic modern melodic rock. Utterly essential.
