Avenged Sevenfold

Live in the LBC and Diamonds in the Rough
Artwork

Avenged Sevenfold’s live/b-sides set, “Live in the LBC & Diamonds in the Rough” captures the bands live presence and tosses you some B-sides in a CD/DVD combo just in time for the holidays. The DVD is excellent. Camera work throughout was done well, editing tried to hang with the music in the pace a little too much. Instead of switching cameras sixty times in eighty seconds, they would have done better to feature a more direct look at the band. The DVD is actually full of content, 12 songs, the crowd was completely into it and the band put on a good show. Can’t say that the song choice was perfect across the board but you live with that. The DVD loses points for putting the band’s video intros in the bonus features… not good… Other than though the DVD is solid. The B-sides disc is good too The first three songs are tremendous and the whole of the album sounds like old Avenged Sevenfold stuff, not their most recent work. That’s a plus for old and new fans alike because both styles are great and sound alike, but this album pays homage to their old sound more than the maturity they showed on the last record. There are some different songs on the B-sides disc, but overall they mold in with old Avenged Sevenfold music more than new. This is a good set for fans of A7X. The B-sides songs are good enough together to make another album and the DVD is a great representation of the band. Overall a good combo album for fans of the band and fans of metal.
