The Spill Canvas

No Really, I'm Fine
Artwork

The Spill Canvas’s major label debut “No Really I’m Fine” is an hour of quality music. The songwriting done by South Dakota native Nick Thomas is actually nothing short of amazing. Not that they’re in the same types of music, but I’ve heard a pop album written by Maroon 5 this year and a pop album and The Last Goodnight that were both extremely well written but they don’t even touch this. Thomas is an extremely gifted song writer musically and lyrically and that’s as rare as it is potent. Thomas’s songs carry this band (what actually began as Thomas’s solo project) through the 12 songs on this album. There’s not a bad song on this album. Some of my favorites from this CD- the single “All Over You”, “The Truth”, “Saved” (featuring Andrew McMahon of Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin), “Low Fidelity”, and “Connect the Dots.”Overall this is one of the best listens that I’ve had in a few months. Nick Thomas is an amazing talent and his band backs him perfectly. This is another band that has the possibility to make it large in 2008. With Nick Thomas’s songs and the overall talent of this band it’s hard to see them not over radio and everywhere else within a year.
