Jimmy Chamberlin Complex

Life Begins Again
Artwork

After starring roles in the highly successful Beatles/Metal hybrid of the Smashing Pumpkins and the short lived but nevertheless noteworthy Zwan, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has again spread his wings, this time with an introspective solo project.

Utilising the services of several different vocalists, gives the whole album a somewhat disjointed experimental feel, with multi-instrumentalist and album co-writer Billy Mohler sharing the songs with the likes of Chamberlin’s friend and ex-band colleague Billy Corgan on the Zwan-like ‘Loki Cat’ or with Billy Medley of the Righteous Brothers fame on the dreary and ultimately pointless ‘Lullaby’. Elsewhere Chamberlin’s obvious Jazz Swing roots are ably demonstrated by his considerable drum skills on the grooving ‘Streetcrawler’, ‘P.S.A’ or ‘Owed to Daryl’ yet their inclusion only adds to the fragmented ethos of an album that would have benefited from the inclusion of a few more songs in the vein of the title track together with a larger overall contribution from Corgan
