311

311 has never been a band to be taken too seriously. They’re not a joke or anything like that. They’ve always just been a group that has put on a tremendous live show with their typical light-hearted style of music. On the band’s latest album they recruited Bob Rock to produce and that was a wise decision. A 311 record hasn’t sounded this thick in years. The band flexes it’s muscles musically throughout the record from track to track with it working best on “Hey You”, and “Jackpot.” While they album is thicker than other 311 albums have been in the past the light-hearted aspect remains true in the lyrics and in the themes of the music. It’s not worthy of Grammy praise or anything like that, but if you like the band you like this record because they added something (the thickness) and they stayed true to what they do best (the attitude in their music.) As if the machine wouldn’t keep rolling anyway, but now 311 has twelve new songs to play at shows.
