Manchester Orchestra

Mean Everything to Nothing
Artwork

Manchester Orchestra’s Canvasback/Sony debut is as good as a rock record can get. It’s original; closest comparisons include Silversun Pickups mashed up with The Killers. The band has a steady rock-anthem approach to music. Big swirling guitars and resonating drums dominate most of the songs and songwriter/frontman Andy Hull sings with raw emotion throughout the entire album and adds an incredible amount of texture to the sound of the album with his voice alone. Every song on this album Is written with an artistic approach and you can really tell that when listening through. Minor points are lost with track placement and song length from track to track but that’s really all there is to pick about on a solid label debut album. Listen through “In My Teeth” as a starting point for M.O. if you like it, move on. This is a great band that will hopefully be making records for years to come. Kudos goes out to Any Hull and Co on an awesome album.
