Mike Dearing was the man that Skytown Riot put in charge to help them hone in their sound on “Alive in the Fire.” The album was recorded at HiFi Studios in Knoxville. The band had worked with Dearing before, but the work the two parties put in on this album was better than what they had done before.
“Mike did our EP in 2013,” stated Gallick. “So, it was easy to get right back into it. We revisited a few songs from that EP on this record. So, it really made sense to go back to him. Everything sounds better, part of that is because we got better, the other part is because Mike upgraded a lot of his equipment. As far as production goes, we worked together on it to make sure we got what we needed. Producers become another band member so nobody has too much say on what we do as a group with the record. Mike’s done a great job in guiding us in the right direction.”
With the help of Gary, Gallik and Skytown Riot have assembled an awesome album with “Alive in the Fire”, one that can gain an artist considerable momentum going forward. While they’re certainly aiming for that, Gallik takes a lot of pride away in the work that he and his band mates created and what he hopes the listener can get out of it.
“I’m proud of everybody that performed on the record. Everyone did an awesome job. When I listen to it, I’ll listen to the takes. It’s hard not to. It’s hard to zoom out and kind of look at the music for what it is. But when I do that, there’s not much that I’d change about it. At the end of the day, it’s something that I’m proud of. I can put my name on it and say it’s the best I can do at this point in my life. It sounds great. If I haven’t listened to it in a while and I listen to it, it moves me, and I hope it does that for the listener.” – aa
