The National have signed on as a headliner for the first annual Barack Obama Foundation Summit. The event is set to take place in Chicago on October 31 and November 1 and the 44th President will discuss a mix of global issues at the event.
The band joins Gloria Estefan and Chance the Rapper at the event, who said:
"As soon as I heard about the summit, I jumped at the opportunity," Chance said of the Obama Foundation gig in a video Friday. "There's a lot of great things going on in Chicago and I love the collaborative effort of being able to be at some of these talks and hear what people have going on and figuring out how I fit in. The fact that the president is jumping ahead of programming before the [Obama Presidential Center] gets built is inspiring."
In a statement about the Summit Obama said "hundreds of leaders from around the world will come together to exchange ideas, explore creative solutions to common problems, and experience civic art, technology, and music from around the world."
